Yes, patrons may bring their own devices and use wifi at no charge. Wifi is available 24/7 and accessible from the parking lot.
You may search our online catalog of items we have at the library, and/or our digital resources, such as Overdrive.
A current government-issued photo ID with up-to-date address is all you need. If the address isn’t current, then you’ll need to show some proof of address like a utility bill, lease, or insurance card.
As long as you live in Texas, it’s free to get a new card. It’s $1 for a replacement card. If you live outside of Texas, a library card costs $40/year.
Local History and some Texana materials are available at Sherman Public Library. The majority of genealogy resources have been transferred to the new genealogy research facilities at Frontier Village, Loy Park, Denison.
We still have a number of the "green dot" how-to and general genealogy books available to check out, including books on Ancestry and Family Search online resources. Our microfilm copies of the Herald Democrat and microfiche of some local and Texas history are available here for patron use, and patrons can use the microfiche machine to print and email clippings from those resources.
We also maintain our subscription to Ancestry Library Edition as well as MyHeritage and the Heritage Quest resources on our TexShare databases, and the latter two are available from home for our patrons.
