Little Miss Muffet

Spiders. I think some kids are fascinated by them, but, like Little Miss Muffet, we know some are scared by them! Here is a fun game to play with your child while saying the nursery rhyme "Little Miss Muffet." Acting the rhyme out is not only a fun way to reinforce the meaning of the words spoken, but is an awesome way to help teach sequence.

First, decide who will be Miss Muffet and who will be a spider. The spider can hold a spider puppet or toy, if available. You can repeat the whole rhyme out loud regardless if you are the spider. If your child knows the rhyme, then you can speak your part and he or she can speak his or her part. The idea is for Miss Muffet to act her part out and for the spider to act his part out. The suggested actions are italicized, but feel free to do others!

"Little Miss Muffet"
Little Miss Muffet
Miss Muffet stands up
Sat on her tuffet
Miss Muffet sits down
Eating her curds and whey
Miss Muffet pretends to eat from hands
Along came a spider
Spider creeps on the floor or walks to Miss Muffet
Who sat down beside her
Spider sit by Miss muffet
And frightened Miss Muffet away
Miss Muffet acts scared and runs away
