This is National Library Week. Of course, I love this week! But, I want to take the time out to express how important reading is.
Reading is not only an excellent way to sneak in cuddles and quiet time, but the best way to build your child's vocabulary. As your child grows, the length and richness of books will expand. And so will your child's vocabulary. The more rare words your child hears, the more successful he or she will be in school, or with learning. Where do you find these rare words? It is not in everyday conversation or on TV. They are found in books.
Read with variety and read often. Thankfully, the city of Sherman funds the public library to provide you with physical books, magazines, books on or with CDs, eBooks/eAudios (through Overdrive), and programs...all for FREE!
