Spring Break Sensory Spaghetti

Posted on March 7, 2016 at 11:16 AM by Christina Stuck

My goal for the next two weeks is to offer you more activities electronically since our programs are going on a mini-vacation!

Today, I want to introduce you and your little ones to some sensory fun. SPAGHETTI! Or Psaghetti as my son says. What is more fun to our hands than touching spaghetti? How about colored spaghetti?!

All you need are spaghetti/ramen/other noodles, food coloring, oil, and a container to keep the spaghetti in before you offer it to your tyke...because you know those noodles are going to go, you'll probably also want a tarp or cloth to cover where your kid will indulge in this play.

Simply cook the spaghetti. You can either leave the spaghetti long or make it shorter, or do a combination. After they are cooked, mix the noodles with food coloring and some oil. Place the noodles in a container. Then, watch your child go to town with this fun “toy!” Exploring the noodles together is one way for your child(ren) to learn new vocabulary, to practice creativity and designing, to work on fine motor skills, and to also ensure your child does not eat more noodles than you'd like. ;)

This week’s sensory experience is taken from Rainy Day Mum blog.
