The Fire Marshal oversees the Fire Prevention Division and is responsible for a variety of services and activities. One of the primary duties is permitting and inspecting fire detection and suppression systems in new commercial buildings. The Fire Marshal oversees annual building inspections, investigations, fire and life safety education and fire hydrant maintenance. The Fire Marshal strives to increase awareness of fire safety and prevention to the citizens of Sherman. Fire and life safety education teaches people of all ages about fire and other safety related topics.
Smoke & Carbon Monoxide
The City of Sherman provides free smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to its citizens. The smoke and carbon monoxide detectors can be installed by an on-duty firefighter. Please contact the on-duty Battalion Chief at 903-892-7266 to request smoke and carbon monoxide detectors or replacement batteries.
