The Sherman Public Library Summer VolunTEEN program is for students ages 12 – 18. The purpose of this program is to allow teens in the Sherman area to enhance job skills, gain work experience, and grow as an individual while contributing to the library. VolunTEENs will be credited service hours for time spent volunteering during scheduled shifts.
Types of tasks and duties you might be asked to perform as a VolunTEEN: putting books in order, cleaning and straightening the public areas, shelf-reading to make sure materials are in order, cleaning toys and other items that are used by our guests, program/event prep, helping us facilitate programs with the public, and staffing the Summer Reading table to help participants get the prizes they have earned.
All applicants will be notified via email within 1 week of application submission. If you do not receive a reply, please inquire at cassiew@cityofsherman.com.
If you are accepeted into the program, you will receive an email with further directions as well as a link to the Summer VolunTEEN SignUp Genius site. You may begin signing up for shifts immediately. Ms. Cassie will add shifts throughout the summer, so check the site often.
If you are available to come in, but do not see a shift available, you may email Ms. Cassie to see if you can come in. Please do not show up without approval.
Please contact Youth Librarian Cassie Wickline cassiew@cityofsherman.com.
(This should be an email address the APPLICANT checks regularly.)
