The 2015 Summer Reading Program for kids!

Children birth to 11 years old are invited to sign up at the library between June 4th and August 1st. Kids will receive a reading log as well as a free book just for signing up!  

Kids, birth to 2 years old, will do an activity log. Children 3 to 11 get to color a circle on their reading log for every book or hour, they read or are read to (audios count!). Log in weekly at the library to claim your prizes. You get a special weekly prize after reading one book or hour a week. Prizes change each Monday and are limited. So remember to visit each week to log in! Also, after completing your reading log, pick out a free book! Free books are given out for only five reading logs. The last day to claim prizes and books is August 15th.

Kids are also invited to join in our free activities, including:
Read to Win Story TimesChildren 18 months to 5 years old with a caregiver are invited to hear stories, sing songs, do action rhymes, visit with puppets, play, and more! Once the child attends for four weeks, he or she will get to pick a favorite book to keep. Story Times meet every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Sherman Public Library. 
Monday Madness
Every Monday in June and July the Friends of the Sherman Public Library and the Sherman Parks and Recreation bring a performer to the Municipal Ballroom located at 405 Rusk Street. Performances are at 2 p.m.

June 8: The Story Time Theatre with "The TRUE Story of Jack & the Beanstalk"
June 15: Seussology 101 performing "Sister Cat"
June 22: Baba Kwasi performing "The Oldest Drumbeat in the World--Interactive Presentation"
June 29: The Dallas Puppet Theater performing "Tony Sarq"
July 6: Marty Westerman presents "Knock 'em Dead Magic Show"
July 13: Jungle Jim with "Wild Encounters"
July 20: Critterman with "Stephen F. Austin's Texas"
July 27: The Pipdillys in "Pipdilly Power!"
Kids Crafternoons: Children 6 to 11 years old are invited to get in touch with their creative side Tuesday afternoons at the Sherman Public Library! Reservations are necessary. Call the library the Monday before the Tuesday's craft your child wants to attend. Tuesdays at 3 p.m. and at 4 p.m. Limited to 24 each hour.

Reading Buddies: Children going into 1st-3rd grades can practice their reading skills with our teen volunteers! Sign children up the Monday before the Wednesday the children will go. Every Wednesdays, beginning June 10th and ending on August 12th, at 3 p.m. in the Sherman Public Library. 
It's Elementary!: Explore science in your everyday life with "It's Elementary!" Children 7 to 11 years old can attend. Please call the Monday before the Thursday program the children would like to attend. Thursdays at 3 p.m. in the Sherman Public Library. Limited to 10.

Dino Days: Children 5 years to 11 years old are invited to earn a free ticket to Dino Days at the Sherman Museum! Read 9 books about dinosaurs, fossils, paleontology, and archeology and get a ticket. Sign up at the library June 4th to August 1st.
