The Sherman Public Library is temporarily closed due to fire.

An alternate location will serve as a temporary library at 1000 N East Street. There are  5 computers and limited materials available now, but the courier will be delivering materials to and from Grayson College Library and Denison Public Library.

If you are interested in volunteering, you may send a message on the Friends Facebook page or contact MeLissa Eason by email at

Most of the books are fine, but they have a layer of soot and smell like smoke. We will need people to wipe off books and pack them. Children will not be allowed in the building.

We would also like to have volunteers set-up outside of the current library location to answer questions from patrons who come up. Many people come up asking where to return books and once the new location is open, they will need directions.

If you are interested in helping with either of these things, please let us know.

Thank you for your support!
